I told myself I would NOT skip this mandatory Monday and despite all attempts it would appear that I have failed once again. Not one to be deterred, however, I realize that it is still Monday to my beloved west-coasters and to my beloved west-coasters, I dedicate this post.
This weekend, Drizzle played me a collection of newly downloaded funk as I was washing the dishes. As soon as I heard the organs of this Seattle-based funk band blaring through our home speakers, I yelled to Drizzle over the music and the running hot water, “Send this to me!”
Although this west-coast funk never got far enough past Pacific Standard Time to even have a video of them posted on YouTube, it is relieving to know that good music can endure the isolation and silence of being “shelved” and get discovered once more to entertain new ears. Dear Dahlak, You are amazing. Seriously i f****** love you and all of ill-litercay. i bought a couple of your songs made my friends by em too. rainbow on my ceiling is the best. But anyways im vp of my schools black student union. Were gearing up for an assembly and i reallllly want my members to perform the man-tality but cant find the words. I would copy them myself but decided to reach out to you and maybe you could shoot them too me. It would save me a lot of work Or you can come perform it yourself whichever works. We’re in LA. by the way i know this was a long shot but it was worth a try. Oh yeah im a poet too (like a real one) and would feel seriously special if you replied to this.
